Speak Thai with confidence in daily life

🗣️ Learning a few Thai phrases can make your life in Thailand much easier. You don’t need to be fluent. Just knowing simple words helps with shopping, travel, and talking to locals. People will appreciate your effort—even if your Thai isn’t perfect.

Basic greetings

  • สวัสดี (sa-wat-dee) – Hello
  • ขอบคุณ (khòp-khun) – Thank you
  • ขอโทษ (khǎw-thôt) – Sorry / Excuse me
    👉 Tip: Add “ครับ (khráp)” if you’re male or “ค่ะ (khâ)” if you’re female to be polite.

📍 Useful questions

  • เท่าไหร่ (tâo-rài)? – How much?
  • ห้องน้ำอยู่ที่ไหน (hâwng-nám yùu thîi-năi)? – Where is the toilet?
  • ไปที่นี่ได้ไหม (bpai thîi-nîi dâai mái)? – Can you go here? (use with taxis)

🍛 Ordering food

  • ไม่เผ็ด (mâi phèt) – Not spicy
  • เอาอันนี้ (ao an-níi) – I’ll take this one
  • น้ำเปล่า (náam bplào) – Plain water

🚫 Helpful phrases for problems

  • ช่วยด้วย (chûay dûay) – Help!
  • ฉันไม่เข้าใจ (chăn mâi khâo-jai) – I don’t understand
  • พูดช้าๆ หน่อย (phûut cháa cháa nàwy) – Please speak slowly
