A simple guide for staying in Thailand with an Education (ED) visa

An ED visa lets you stay in Thailand while studying. Many people use it to learn Thai or English. It’s one of the easiest ways to stay in Thailand long-term. But it’s important to understand the rules.

📍 To get an ED visa, you must study at a registered school. You also need to attend class often. Immigration may ask for proof, like attendance records or school letters. Some schools don’t guide students at all, which can cause problems. Always choose a school that helps with the full visa process.

✅ You must report to immigration every 90 days. This is called a “90-day report.” You may also need to visit immigration for a visa extension every 60 or 90 days, depending on your visa type. The school should tell you when and how to do this.

Learning Thai helps with daily life. It also shows immigration that you are serious about studying. Many students say learning Thai makes it easier to live, shop, and travel in Thailand.

If you break the rules, your visa can be canceled. It’s important to follow Thai etiquette, go to class, and respect the visa system. Staying legal is key.
